WINONA, Minn. – Three Winona High School ensembles have been tuning up for their joint concert Wednesday. It’s their local preview for the Big Nine Conference Music Festival, which comes two days later at Austin — .the 88th Big Nine Music Festival, which prior to the pandemic, was the longest running non-competitive music festival in the nation. A rich musical heritage
Concert choir: Established in 1933 by Grace Kiessling. Travis Sletta is the 13th conductor of choir.
Symphonic band: Established in 1937 by Harold Edstrom. Myron Haug is just the sixth conductor of the band.
Orchestra: Established in 1938 by Alfred Speltz. Lori Carlson is the 10th conductor of the orchestra.
