COLFAX, Wis. – Heavy storms that swept northeast out of Iowa saved their severest fury for northwest Wisconsin. There were four touchdowns.

> Colfax. A tornado touched down slightly north of Interstate 94 near Rusk in Dunn County and continued six miles northeast across Highway 40, then through Whitetail Golf Course south of Colfax. Speeds on radar showed 80 to 90 mph — s a low-end EF1 tornado. The tornado touched down at 7:32 p.m. and continued 14 minutes. No one was reported injured, although elsewhere one person was hurt during two other severe storm events.

> St. Croix Falls. An EF0 tornado set down at 10:30 north of St. Croix Falls in Polk County. The tornado traveled one mile with winds reaching 85 mph.

> Knapp. An EF0 tornado touched down east of Knapp in Dunn County around 7:30 p.m. It remained on the ground three-quarters of a mile with speeds up to 80 mph.

> Stockholm. A tornado crossed Lake Pepin from Minnesota into Wisconsin south of Stockholm in Pierce County. There were no injuries.

The storm system included hail. There also were microbursts that tore up trees and farm out=buildings.  Among reports to the National Weather Service was a funnel cloud seven miles south of Eau Claire. There was no evidence that it touched down. Wind and hail damaged took out power for several hours in places.
