ALMA, Wis. – A towboat was righted and cleared away from the Alma dam after crashing out of control into the dam in strong currents. The vessels’ petro-carrying barges also were pulled out of the narrow passageway into the lock at the dam. By noon, less than 24 hours after the accident, normal lock and dam operations were restored. Among agencies assisting with the recovery: The U.S. Coast Guard, the Army Corp of Engineers, and the Buffalo County sheriff’s and emergency management departments.
