SPARTA, Wis. – A Sparta waitress was killed in a man-friend’s apartment, apparently with a blunt instrument, police said. Killed was Sara Latimer, 32, who waitressed at the Sparta VFW club. Arrested was Shawn J. Hock. Police said Hock called 911 at 10:17 a.m. that he woke up in bed and found Latimer dead next to him. He could not explain bruises to her face and head or that one eye was swollen shut, police said.
