MINNEAPOLIS – A petroleum leak in sewer tunnels forced the evacuation of seven East Bank buildings at the University of Minnesota as well as nearby homes and buildings. There were no injuries. A contract crew working in the sewers reported high petroleum concentrations about 11:30 a.m. The source was not determined immediately. State Fire Marshal Jim Smith asked people in the area to run water in every sink and floor drain to help flush the petroleum product through the system. These campus buildings were evacuated:
> Williams Arena.
> Huntington Bank Stadium.
> McNamara Alumni Center.
> Aquatics Center.
> Recreation Center.
> Mariucci arena.
> Maturi Sports Pavilion.
