NORTH MANKATO, Minn. — Democrat Jeff Ettinger conceded a tight vote in the First District Congressional special election to Republican Brad Finstad. “The voters of southern Minnesota have spoken,” said Ettinger. “I want to congratulate Brad Finstad on winning the special election. To supporters Ettinger said: “Though I had hoped to celebrate different news with you all, there is plenty for which to be hopeful. We won big in our primary. We outperformed pundits and polls, and we have momentum in a new, advantageous district.” Because Ettinger and Finstad each won his party’s primary, which was on the same ballot as the special election, they vie against each other again in November for a full term in Congress.
