WINONA, Minn. – Police were more alarmed than need be when a call came in about a fight involving a machete outside a Kwik Trip convenience store. Yes, when officers arrived, there indeed had been a fight. But the weapons turned put to be small knives – no machete. Even so, there was a wound. One man was bleeding from a thumb. This was about 12:25 p.m, — after closing time at the Kwik Trip at Fifth and South Baker streets. One of the combatants was gone when police arrived. Witnesses told police the pair had been arguing all night.
