ST. PAUL, Minn. — Attorney General Keith Ellison said the first installment from the multibillion opioid settlement from drug manufacturers has arrived in the state treasury. It’s $6.6 million from $399 due to Minnesota over the next 18 years from AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health, Johnson & Johnson and McKesson. The Minnesota share will be $399 million. The state is distributing the funds to cities and counties for local opioid treatment. In all, the companies owe the states $26 billion in a national settlement. In addition there are settlements in progress with other opioid companies — Allergan, Endo, Mallinckrodt, McKinsey Perdue, and Teva.
