WINONA, Minn. – Peter M. Weess, 64, of Winona. who taught biology at Winona High School for 25 years, died at UW Health in Madison. He grew up in La Cross. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1976 to 1983 at the Puget Sound submarine base. He graduated from UW-La Crosse in 1989. At Winona High he was known for a passion about teaching.. He raised trout in his classroom and took students to the Whitewater River to release them. He coached basketball and soccer. He was sectional and conference coach of the year. Pete held two master’s degrees from Winona State.
