LOS CABOS SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Governor Tim Walz will sign a bill legalizing marijuana as soon as the new Democratic majority in the Legislature passes the necessary authorization. The revelation was reported by former Governor Jesse Ventura in a podcast from his winter home in Baja California. Ventura said he had talked with Walz by phone. When he was governor from 1999 to 2030, Ventura was an outspoken advocate of legalizing recreational marijuana, but the Republican Legislature blocked it.
Ventura getaway
Ventura, age 71, splits his time in retirement between White Bear Lake in Minnesota and Baja California in Mexico. He drives the whole 2,500 miles. The trip takes 47 hours windshield time. The winter get-away is modest — about an hour from the Los Cabos San Lucas resort city. Access is by a gravel road. The house is off the electricity grid. He has power from solar panels.
