RED WING, Minn. –A Red Wing woman pleaded not guilty to killing two newborn children either by drowning them in the Mississippi River or leaving them to die on the river. Jennifer Matter, 52, was charged in May with two counts of second-degree murder after DNA inked the infants to her as the irmother. The bodies were found in 1999 and 2003. Authorities have been unable to identify the parentage of a third newborn found dead in the river in 2007. At the hearing the prosecutor presented forensic drawings of all three infants.
