WINONA, Minn. – Because of deteriorating weather, Winona public schools will be closed Thursday. The decision was made about 4:30 a.m. Spokesperson John Casper said all athletic events, after-school activities and community-education classes were canceled. The National Weather Service had issued a winter weather advisory with two to four inches of snow expected. The storm is due to moist air coming from the south and colliding into a cold front.
