ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota health officials reported nearly 2,300 new coronavirus cases Friday, the first time the state has gone beyond 2,000 in a single day. The 2,297 new cases raised the state’s total to more 119,000. The Friday count beat a record of 1,516 a week earlier. The surge accompanied spikes also in Wisconsin and the Dakotas, which have some of the worst per-capita transmission rates in the country.
