LESUEUR, Minn. – The avian virus that devastated poultry farms nationwide in 2022 is bac but for now on a relatively small scale. A backyard flock of 114 birds was found infected last week and exterminated to prevent spread. The state Board of Animal Health said the flock was in LeSueur County in south-central Minnesota. There had been another minor outbreak, in December, in Redwood County in southwest Minnesota. It was thought to have been contained. The 2022 crisis claimed 58 million birds nationally and sent egg prices soaring.
