PALO ALTO, Calif. – A study by Stanford University researchers found that 18 of President Trump’s campaign rallies probably led to 30,000 coronavirus cases and 700 deaths. Researchers examined rallies between June 20 and September 22, of which 17 were outdoors. The researchers compared spread of the virus in counties wher rallies were held to counties on similar case trajectories before the rallies occurred. The study recognized that the deaths were “not necessarily among attendees.” Nonetheless, the data pointed compellingly to a connection.
