LACROSSE,Wis. — After 34 years the Pizza Doctors buffet, with its endless variations, including peanut butter and chocolate pizzas, will be no more. Larry JcMahon has closed up shop. “It turns out a pizza buffet restaurant that caters to families with young children is not a good business model for a pandemic,” he said. McMahon’s repertoire, including a turkey and dressing pizza called the Doc Holiday, had been featured on travel and food cable channels for decades. McMahon had 80 pizzas although only 40 at a time could fit menu. At one time an iconic red and white 1950s Cadillac ambulance was parked regularly right outside the 624 King Street shop and driven in parades.
