DUNDEE, Wis. – A animal rescue team pulled a 20-inch alligator from Long Lake. Assuming it was somebody’s pet, game wardens have begun a search for the owner. The lake is in the northern Kettle Moraine Sate Forest between Fond du Lac and Sheboygan – hardly a hospitable environment for alligators come winter. The lake is 420 acres and 47 feet deep and freezes over. The gator was spotted by kids playing near the lake. Game wardens found temporary home for the reptile 62 miles away at J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue in Menasha.

So many molars. An invasive species? The state Natural Resources Department has rules to keep invasive species out. Alligators aren’t listed.
