PRESTON, Minn. – An Amish preacher, Chriss C. Stutzman, 57, who farms near Caxton, Minnesota, was charged with three counts of felony rape of a teen-age girl some 30 years ago. The victim, Lizzie Hershberger, now 50, said she was sexually assaulted multiple times when she was 14. She gave police a diary with details of 26 incidents over five months. There were two other incidents, which she said she had scribbled out. Hershberger said the assaults happened in a barn, in the house, in a buggy and on a fishing outing on the Root River. In court documents Sheriff John DeGeorge said that Stutzman admitted to rape but didn’t think that it was so many times and that he tries to forget old mistakes. Stutzman was not a preacher at the time.
