WINONA, Minn. – Police had a heckuva time arresting a man after breaking up an argument between the man and a woman for a second time. Arrested after a struggle the second time was Bobby Darnell Green, 39, of Winona. It began about 10:30 p.m. when police were called to Links Lane at the foot of West Burns Valley to quell a disturbance. Believing they had mediated the problem, the officers left. But they were called back 1-1/2 hours later to the same man and woman, again in a loud exchange. This time the officers realized that Green was on probation with a restriction against drinking. He smelled of alcohol, so the officers decided to arrest him on a routine eight-hour probation hold. At that point, they said, Green went into a dead-weight mode. With difficulty, officers carried him to their squad car. He wouldn’t get in. When officers forced him in, he scooted across the seat and out the other door. Finally, almost six hours after the saga began, officers got Green to jail. He was booked at 4:10 a.m. His probation involved drunken driving and assault. The new charge: Obstructing arrest.

Green. An onery arrest. Held on probation violation issue after Link Lanes ruckus. Also noncompliance at new arrest.
