MINNEAPOLIS – A 48th person was indicted in a massive rip-off of an emergency federal nutrition program for children during the CoVid pandemic. The announcement was made by Andy Luger, the U.S. attorney for Minnesota. Originally 47 people were listed in Luger’s criminal indictment. At this point, he said, it’s known that $250 million was stolen in the fraud. “This $250 million is the floor,” Luger said, noting that the investigation is continuing and may widen. He said the defendants sued their ill-gotten proceeds on luxury cars, houses, vacation property and jewelry.
