WINONA, Minn. – An exhibit by Minneapolis artist Sonja Peterson, who creates distinctive wall art with intricately cut pieces of paper, runs through September 11 at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. The exhibit is titled “What the Trade Winds Brought.” Peterson uses complex patterns that build interplays between her colorful negative backgrounds, shadows, and foregrounds for a sense of movement and vibrancy. Her works explore flora and fauna and the history of travelers above and below the world’s waters.
