ST. PAUL, Minn. – A sick wild fox in Anoka County died of avian flu, University of Minnesota veterinarians reported. The case was the first of avian flu in a wild mammal in Minnesota. The especially virulent flu has wiped out millions of wild birds as well as farm fowl and was thought to be confined to birds. The state Natural Resources Department now has added avian influenza to its routine screening process for foxes.
