MADISON Wis. – State authorities extended their avian flu quarantine to rare birds kept in captivity, including ostriches, emus, kiwis, rheas, cassowaries, as well as extinct moas and elephant birds. Earlier the Agriculture Department restricted only poultry. In the new order, live domestic birds may not be taken shows, exhibitions, swap meets, or other events. The highly pathogenic bird flu keeps cropping up in domestic and wild birds.
