HAYWARD, Minn. – An Austin man was injured when his car slammed into the rear of a snow plow at the Hayward rest stop on Interstate 90. James Thomas Schafer, 59, was taken to the Albert Lea hospital for injuries that appeared less than serious. The plow driver, Casey Lee Freden of Albert Lea, was unhurt. Both vehicles were westbound toward Austin. The plow was in motion. Schafer was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Express van.
