ROCHESTER, Minn. – An Edina man has been excused, at least for now, from prosecution for mental reasons after being arrested for death threats against two Rochester police officers.  Josef Makatewassi, 52, was ruled by a Rochester judge as too psychologically incompetent for trial. He will be re-evaluated at a later date on whether the case can proceed, the judge said. The criminal complaint said that Makatewassi sent threatening emails with personal information about the officers’ families, including their addresses photographs. He threatened to use one officer’s daughter for sex trafficking. He also threatened to kill the officers and their families.
