COCHRANE, Wis. – After one of the best seasons in its history, the Cochrane-Fountain City High School girls basketball team forfeited a semifinal game because of close contact with someone carrying the Co-Vid virus. Activities Director Lance Litchfield made the announcement. Such came a heart-breaking end to the Pirates’ 17-4 season. The Pirates were scheduled to play top-seeded Hillsboro. Hopes were high after the Pirates defeated Dairyland Conference rival Blair-Taylor for their first regional title since 2016.
