DAVENPORT, Iowa — An engineering study blamed the collapse of a six-story Daveport apartment building on the removal of a brick wall that resulted from an inadequate understanding of the building’s original design. Three residents died in rhe May 2023 collapse of the 116-year-old building. The collapse could have been prevented had the section of removed brick been shored up, the report suggested.
