BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – The police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright resigned as civil anger was growing in this Minneapolis suburb and elsewhere. In a letter to her supervisors, Kim Potter wrote that her resignation would be “in the best interest of the community, the department and fellow officers.” Meanwhile, a family source said that Potter has relocated out of Minnesota. She had lived in the suburb of Champlin 10 miles north of Brooklyn Center. Potter has not been charged for killing Wright, but the prosecutor in neighboring Washington County, who is handling the case, is amassing details on what happened. Also, there is discussion that any prosecution be turned over to state Attorney General Keith Ellison. Ellison has handled prosecution in the May 25 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
