ROCHESTER, Minn. – A University of Minnesota-Rochester student was arrested after campus security guards, tipped by his suite-mate, found drugs and hundreds of rounds of ammo in his room. Ronald John Christenson, 20, was arrested in the office of Chancellor Lori Carrel, where he had been summoned while campus security officers went to the Discovery Square apartment building, which the university leases as dorm space, in the 500 block of Third Avenue Southwest. City police were on hand, as requested as backup by campus security officers. Christenson’s suite-mate had reported that he had a gun in the room. What official discovered was 53 grams methamphetamine in a suitcase, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, $890 in cash, a digital scale — and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. When arrested at the chancellor’s office, Christenson had a loaded 9-mm handgun tucked into his waistband, police said.
