LACRESCENT, Minn. – Longtime La Crescent-Hokah High School baseball coach Rick Boyer died unexpectedly. He was revering from recent heart surgery. As Lancers coach for 17 seasons, Boyer amassed a 326-143 record. Before that, he spent 28 seasons as an assistant coach. Boyer took the Lancers to the state tournament five times. They won the Class AA championship in 2009. Boyer was set to coach his final season in 2020 before the season was cancelled by the Co-Vid pandemic. He played for the La Crosse 35ers during summers and coached the La Crosse Loggers for two seasons.
