PENSACOLA, Fla. – A sex-trafficking indictment against the now-ousted chair of the Republican student club at the University of St. Thomas claims six minors were solicited for sex. The indictment, against sophomore Gisela Medina, was unsealed. by a federal magistrate at an arraignment hearing. The judge ordered Medina to be transported to Minneapolis for further proceedings. The indictment had been delivered in Minnesota, where the FBI launched its case. Medina was arrested Thursday in in Fort Walton Beach in the Florida. The hearing Monday was in the nearest federal court in Pensacola. Prosecutors noted at the hearing that some victims and their parents were listening to the proceedings by teleconference. In the indictment they said that there may be more than six victims.

An unanswered question is whether the case against Gisela Medina has any connection with Congress member Matt Gaetz. His hometown is Fort Walton Beach, where Medina was arrested. Gaetz, 39, a Republican, is in his second term from Florida’s First Congressional District. For months he has been beleaguered by connections with buddy Jason Pirozzola, who has testified to sex-trafficking with underage girls and arranging orgies.
