BARRON, Wis. — A Dallas, Wisconsin, man was charged with homicide for a two-vehicle crash southwest of Chetek in January. Edward Wakefield, 53, was driving a car that smashed inti a semi-truck at County Highway I and 22 3/4 Street. A passenger, Robert Warnecke of Dallas, died. Police said that Wakefield admitted to responding police that he was aware that his driver’s license was revoked. He also consented to a blood test, which came back with meth and amphetamine in hs blood. A second passenger, Ashley Halpin, 33, of Chippewa Falls, escaped serious injury. The driver of the semi, Shawn Charles Robbins, 42, of Rice Lake, was unhurt. The accident was about 1 p.m. January 13.
