ST. PAUL, Minn.– Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin changed his plea to guilty in a federal civil rights case involving a14-year-old youth he held down by the throat in a 2017 case. This is the same Derek Chauvin who already is serving a 22-1/2 year sentence for murder for holding down George Floyd in 2020. The new change of plea is part of a bargain in a larger federal action that involves the civil rights of both Floyd and the teenager. The incidents were unrelated except that both involved black males andvChauvin, who is white.
