ALMA CENTER, Wis. – Fire crews spent all afternoon into the evening at a north Jackson County farm where a fire ravaged through tires, silage, baled hay, and debris. More than 170,000 gallons of water were used, said Fire Chief Kevin Forsting. One firefighter was treated on the scene. Several buildings, hundreds of cattle and hay bales were saved, Forsting said. The fire was at County Highway F and Meek Road three miles south of town toward Interstate 94. What caused the fire? Forsting said wind and low humidity were factors. Responding were units from Alma Center, Black River Falls, Fairchild, Hatfield, Hixton, Merillan, Osseo and Taylor.
