AMES, Iowa – The first confirmed case of highly contagious rabbit hemorrhagic disease has been confirmed in Iowa. The state Agriculture Department said the case was in Story County near Ames in central Iowa. The disease does not affect humans or other animals. The only clinical signs of the disease are sudden death and blood-stained noses caused by internal bleeding.
