WHITING, Ind. – An electrical fire that closed a BP oil refinery southwest of Chicago is unlikely to affect gasoline prices, analysts say. The plant is expected to resume operation in a few days. The refinery produces 20% of the refined gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Meanwhile, gasoline prices continue to drop — down about 40 scents a gallon in recent weeks.
