WINONA, Minn. — A fan motor to a furnace was found overheating in an apartment building the 1400 block of West Fifth Street. Firefighters found a a hallway and bathroom smelling of heated electrical equipment and a light haze. The alarm system, it turned out, had been disarmed or reset. The furnace was de-energized. The manager promised to call a furnace repair person in the morning. The fire call came in about 2:30 p.m.
