LANSING, Mich. — The domestic terror group Wolverine Watchmen planned to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, bring her to Wisconsin, and put her on a kangaroo trial, the FBI said. The exact trial site was not identified in FBI documents that charged 13 men for the kidnap plot. The documents also cite a Wolverine training camp in a backwoodsy area near Cambia, Wisconsin, 35 miles northeast of Maison. Training included black powder, balloons, a fuse and BBs for shrapnel, the FBI said. There also was rifle training a rifle with a silencer. The kidnapping was planned for the governor’s summer home in northern Michigan. Among defendants: Adam Dean Fox. Some of the planning, the FBI said, was in the secret basement under a vacuum repair shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The basement was accessible through a trap door under a rug, the FBI said. The overall plot was to assassinate Governor Whitmer, overthrow the Michigan state government, and launch a civil war.
