DYERSVILLE, Iowa – An $80 million expansion of the Field of Dreams movie site is planned as a destination place for youth baseball and softball, as well as fans and tourists. Plans include a hotel. An investnment group headed byMLB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas bought the site last year. By 2024 the group expects to have nine new baseball and softball fields and dormitories in place.  By 2025, Thomas said, there will be of a 100,000-square-foot fieldhouse, a concert amphitheater, an RV park, a disability-inclusive park and trails through the corn fields. The project will create 170 full-time jobs that will generate in over $25 million in direct annual spending, Thomas said. The property will be maintained as “a working farm, amid the natural beauty of the rural Iowa landscape,” he said. “We are deeply committed to preserving the romantic experience of the Field of Dreams, including the views, the baseball diamond, the farmhouse, and the cornfields. Those images will never change.”
