ROCHESTER, Minn. – The finance officer at Somerby Golf Club in Byron was sentenced to 45 months in prison for swindling the private club with unauthorized credit card purchases. Gordon Craig Perkins, 53, also was ordered to pay $500,000 restitution. Perkins, now with an Albertville address, had pleaded guilty to four counts of felony theft. The thefts were caught when another club executive was checking the books. The charges ranged from $1,300 in 2012 to $108,000 in2018. The charges: Groceries, $300 nail trimming, lawn service, dental work, auto repairs, appliances, air travel, hotels, car rentals, mobile phone service, and air-conditioner repair. Perkins was confronted and fired. At one point Perkins’ attorney proposed a $100 a month repayments. The judge called that ridiculous.
