WINONA Minn. – Mental illness typically goes untreated for months, sometims years, before a victim seeks treatment, according to Eric Sievers, executive director of Winona-based Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Centers. The average is about 11 years, he said. Sievers cited the statistic in noting that May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  He said local health agencies have recently seen an uptick in anxiety and depression.
