HOUSTON, Minn. – A tornado with 80-mph winds tore across Highway 76 north of Houston on Money Creek and continued to cut a 40-yard path eastward for 4-1/2 miles. The National Weather Service said the tornado touched down at 3:01 p.m. and was on the ground five minutes. No injuries were reported, but a barn was damaged. The Weather Service reported its radar identified two other possible tornadoes in western Wisconsin and northeast Iowa but was unable to determine immediately whether they touched down. The severe storm that generated the tornadic winds dropped massive rain in places:
> Clear River, west of Lansing, Iowa, 5.5 inches.
> Wykoff, between Preston and Spring Valley, Minnesota, 4.5 inches.
> High Forrest, 14 miles south of Rochester, 3.8 inches.
