WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate voted 69-50 to for an eight-year $1.2 trillion program to update national infrastructure. The bill now goes to the House. The bill includes upgrades to transit systems and broadband and to replace lead water pipes. Meanwhile, Senate committees continue to work on a separate $3.5 trillion infrastructure plan that includes spending for broader infrastructure projects to combat climate change, provide health wellness and college tuition, and reform taxes.
