CINCINNATI, Ohio – The consumer goods manufacturer Procter & Gamble has recalled a huge number of its heavily advertised Old Spice and Secret deodorants because they contain the cancer-causing agent benzene. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised the recall. Included in various sizes and collections:
> Old Spice: Pure Sport, Stronger Swagger, Stronger Swagger, Ult Captain, Below Deck, Below Deck, Fresh Air.
> Secret. Lavender, water lily, rose, Fresh, Outlast, Outlast.
Benzene can contribute to life-threatening leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow, and blood disorders.
Benzene. A natural constituent of crude oil known for its toxicity.
