WEST DES MOINES, Iowa—The Hy-Vee grocery chain announced an automated cleaning system that sanitizes shopping carts after every use. Customers were advised that the system will be in place in all 200 Hy-Vee stores across its eight-state region, including Winona, Rochester and a soon-to-open store in Valley View Mall in LaCrosse. The Sterile Cart system cleans entire carts and not just the handles and high-touch areas. The disinfectant kills 99.9% of germs and viruses, including the coronavirus, the company said.
