HIBBING, Minn. —U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis was released from a hospital following a two-night stay for emergency internal hernia surgery. Lewis’ campaign released a statement that he needed “a little time to fully recover.” The campaign didn’t specify whether Lewis, a Republican, would resume his underdog challenge to incumbent Democratic Senator Tina Smith. Lewis was sidelined Monday morning by extreme abdominal pain while waiting for Vice President Mike Pence to arrive in Hibbing for a campaign rally.
