ST. PAUL, Minn. – The physician whom Minnesota Republicans nominated to be governor in 2022, Scott Jensen, is being hauled before the state Board of Medical Practices. This is serious. The Board has the authority to yank licenses to practice medicine. In Chaska, where Jensen has a small family practice, he confirmed that the Board is convening February 24 to review complaints regarding his public statements about CoVid and patient care. Jensen has a record as a conspiratorist who sees government as an overreaching evil. About the Medical Practices Board review, he said: “If it can happen to me, it can happen to you.”

Delayed hearing

The state Medical Practices Board has had Jensen on its radar since early in the CoVid crisis but deferred on action to avoid appearing to meddle in the election process.

Scope of complaints

Attorney General Keith Ellison notified Jensen about 18 complaints being considered against him. Involved is disinformation, including advising against vaccines and masks, the attorney general said. Ellison said there is concern that Jensen called  for civil disobedience among Minnesotans and businesses to ignore public health guidance during the CoVid pandemic. Other complaints allege that Jensen promoted conspiracy theories that the Minnesota Health Department was instructing health providers to skew official data by falsely listing CoVid as a cause of death. Jensen never  substantiated his allegation. Ellison’s letter said: “This meeting is not a hearing but rather a forum for the committee to have a face-to-face conversation with you about the concerns.”
