MLWAUKEE, Wis. – White farmers who oppose a federal loan forgiveness for minority farmers as unfair have succeeded in stalling the program. Federal Judge William Griesbach issued a temporary restraining order suspending the program until both sides can present their cases in court.The Biden administration had begun forgiving loans for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers as part of a massive Covid relief program. The program pays up to 120% of direct or guaranteed farm loan balances for Black, American Indian, Hispanic, Asian American or Pacific Islander farmers.
