JEFFERSON, Wis. – A county judge, Bennett Brantmeier, ordered the state game agency to begin a gray wolf hunting this month. A Kansas-based organization, Hunter Nation Inc., had objected to Judge Brantmeier that delaying a hunt violated hunters’ constitutional rights by denying them the opportunity to kill wolves immediately — not waiting until fall for a Department of Natural Resources scheduled hunt. Judge Brantmeier said the hunt must begin in February. Also, Republican state senators pointed to their ne state law that gave the DNR had no choice to delay the season.
