LACROSSE, Wis. — After four hours of deliberation a jury found a rural LaCrosse County woman guilty of causing the death of her 6-year-old son. The jury found Josie Marie Dikeman, age 35, guilty of:
> Chronic neglect of a child with death resulting, punishable possibly by 60 years in prison.
> Repeated physical abuse of a child with death resulting, punishable possibly by life in prison;
Judge Elliott Levine delayed sentencing to July. He also rescinded Dikeman’s bail and ordered her to be held in the county jail until sentencing. The trial took three weeks. After closing arguments Thursday, the 12 jurors spent two hours in initial deliberations that included a review of video evidence from the Dikeman home in rural Medary. Jurors reconvened two hours later in the morning and then announced their verdict.

Dikeman. Boy died of torn liver, brain swelling and bruises on his face, head and neck. The drug Xanax was found in his system.
